Fresh Milled Grain Yield Calculator
Share
Have you ever looked at a recipe and wondered "How much grain do I need to mill for this?"
Or maybe you've had a container of wheat berries and thought, "How much flour will this give me?"
Or maybe you're overwhelmed at the thought of getting started and have no idea how much grain to buy.
We've got you covered!
Our brand-new Grain Yield Calculator is now live.
Whether you're baking sourdough with hard red wheat, whipping up pancakes with soft white wheat, or experimenting with ancient grain like einkorn or spelt, this tool makes it simple to:
- Convert flour need to grain amounts
- Estimate how much flour you'll get from a given amount of berries
- Adjust for different grain types (because rye ≠ to wheat in density!)
- Reduce waste and mill only what you need
How it works:
You'll find two modes:
- Flour to Grain (Cup Conversion): For recipes that list flour in cups, this tool converts to grams and tells you how much grain to mill. Different grains have different densities (see chart below), so a cup of rye doesn't weigh the same as a cup of hard red wheat.
- Reverse Mode: Already measured your grain by weight? Use this mode to see how much flour you'll get. This is helpful when you're batching recipes or using leftover wheat berries.
